Abstract
Unstable comminuted femoral shaft fracture in two patients were treated by open reduction and internal fixation (Kuntscher I-M nailing).
Supplemented with methylmethacrylate packed into the curetted medullary space. All patients were sitting up in a chair the day after operation.
Partial weight bearing on the limb was started within two weeks. Ankylosis of knee joint was prevented by early motion of knee joint. The fracture healed by periosteal new bone formation.
There was no evidence of refractures or wound complication.
